Cate Reid Ceremonies
Being asked to marry a couple is always such a joy. I love creating ceremonies that are simple, graceful, and full of heart, moments that feel calm, personal, and meaningful. Whether you are planning a quiet, intimate celebration or a joyful gathering of family and friends, I am here to guide you gently through an experience that honours your story and your love.
I offer ceremonies anywhere in Scotland, creating weddings that feel authentic and personal in the place that matters most to you.
Alongside shaping your ceremony, I also carry the legal responsibility of marriage solemnisation with care and professionalism. I guide you clearly through each step of the legal process so your marriage is meaningful in the moment and fully recognised in law. I am authorised to solemnise legal marriages in Scotland through the belief organisation Circle of Contemplative Living, recognised by the Registrar General for Scotland.
My work with couples is grounded in the values of Circle of Contemplative Living:
– Honouring Grace
– Living Humbly
– Being Love
The Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 makes clear that celebrants are not to be in the business of solemnising marriages for profit or gain. The fees I charge reflect my time, preparation, travel, and professional responsibilities, allowing me to continue offering this work ethically and sustainably. Any travel or accommodation costs are always discussed and agreed with you in advance so everything feels clear and relaxed.
If you would like to know more about the Circle of Contemplative Living, the legal process, or the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977, I am happy to explain everything in plain language with no pressure. You are also warmly welcome to join our meditation sessions on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday mornings from 8am until 8.30am.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Cate

For couples experiencing health or financial difficulties, I offer a gift ceremony to make your special day as easy and meaningful as possible.

A no-fuss option that covers all the legal requirements with a respectful and straightforward approach, keeping things simple but meaningful.

Here, we get into your love story and what marriage means to you. We can include any readings or poems you love, along with a handfasting, sand ceremony, or Quaich toast once you’ve signed the dotted line.

This is everything in the personalised ceremony, plus I can create bespoke poems, readings, or prayers just for you. It’s also a chance to involve your family and friends, whether through sharing words of wisdom or taking part in rituals that mean something to you both.
At the heart of my work is a deep respect for all beliefs. I embrace them with an open heart, fostering simplicity, peace, and love. I design each ceremony around your love story, ensuring it reflects your personal beliefs and values, whether religious or non-religious.
